Covid Information

INTRODUCTION

CSEN uses this page to keep the ever changing covid rules up to date and relevant for CSEN competitions. Schools are requested to check back to this page for up to date information on a regular basis.

The information below is different from the Covid – 19 Risk Assessments and Covid Guidelines that are found on each event page and on the policy / guidelines page. These pages should also be checked regularly.

GENERAL

TOP TIPS

The key recommendations (based on Department of Health advice) are –
(1) for people who have any symptoms of COVID-19 to stay away, get tested & isolate until receiving a negative result;
(2) to stay outdoors wherever possible

(3) maintain 1.5m distance at all times.  Wear a mask if you cannot socially distance; and
(4) maintain strong COVID-19 hygiene practices.

Team mates, officials, opposition school who have been in close contact with the COVID positive player do not need to stay home unless they feel unwell.

NOTIFICATION TO CSEN

It is expected that schools will notify CSEN regarding a positive case at a CSEN event if the school has been notified by the student.

WHAT ARE THE CURRENT RULES FOR SCHOOL STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN CSEN SPORT?

There are no restrictions.

WHAT ARE THE CURRENT RULES FOR SCHOOL STAFF TO OFFICIATE IN CSEN SPORT?

There are no restrictions.

WHAT ARE THE CURRENT GENERAL RESTRICTIONS IN PLACE FOR COMMUNITY SPORT / EXERCISE?

CAN PARENTS / CARERS ATTEND CSEN SPORT TO WATCH A STUDENT?

Spectators may attend CSEN sport at this point in time.  Parents / Carers that are part of the team (coach / umpire / team official etc) may attend, providing they have followed the correct school procedures and CSEN procedures (including, but not limited to WWC Clearance, signing of CSEN registers etc).

RESULTS OF A COVID AFFECTED MATCH / EVENT?

WHAT ARE THE RULES AROUND SUBSTITUTING PLAYERS / STUDENTS AT A CSEN EVENT? 

Cultural Events – substitutions are acceptable on the day to cater for students that are unavailable due to covid isolation.

Major Carnivals / Rally Days – substitutions are acceptable on the day to cater for students that are unavailable due to covid isolation.

Semester Sport – substitutions are acceptable on the day to cater for students that are unavailable due to covid isolation.  Please familiarise yourself with the rules associated with substitutions as per the eligibility, fixtures and match procedures sections of the semester sport policy, including information about forfeits and rescheduled matches.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE INDIVIDUAL AND SCHOOL RESULTS OF THE CULTURAL EVENT?

Results from the event will stand. 

Substitutions will score points and have results included as per a selected student.

School results will stand.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE INDIVIDUAL AND SCHOOL RESULTS OF THE MAJOR CARNIVAL / RALLY DAY?

Results from the event will stand.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE INDIVIDUAL AND SCHOOL RESULTS OF THE SEMESTER SPORT MATCH?

Results from the event will stand.

If the match is forfeited due to covid cases / staff unavailability and unable to be played, the result shall be a draw on receipt of an email from the School Principal within 48 hours after the scheduled match start time, outlining the reasons for the forfeit.

HYGEINE / CLEANING

WHAT IS USED TO SANITISE HANDS & / OR EQUIPMENT?

Equipment and hands will be cleaned / sanitised with “minimum 70%-alcohol (ethanol or isopropyl alcohol (IPA) based antibacterial wipe or spray” at the start and end of the match.  This also includes any electronic equipment used for scoring.

Please ensure that sanitiser is available for use if required.

WHAT TYPE OF CLEANING NEEDS TO TAKE PLACE IN CHANGEROOMS AND FACILITES BEFORE AND AFTER USE?

Cleaning procedures may differ depending on the local government authority (e.g. Council), school or other management body that run the facilities and cleaning procedures. Staff / students will still have a major responsibility in making sure facilities are clean and safe. On match day, cleaning can include: 

– Taking all reasonable steps to ensure that frequently touched surfaces accessible to members of the public, including tables, toilets and handrails, are cleaned regularly (including when visibly soiled) and post events or between groups by wiping the surface with a disinfectant that has anti-viral properties.
– Cleaning principles can be found via the WorkSafe Australia website which should help as a reference point to what cleaning guidelines are recommended.   

ARE WE ABLE TO SHARE EQUIPMENT BETWEEN PLAYERS?

Yes – however equipment sharing between players is discouraged to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.  Schools should follow school procedures regarding cleaning of shared equipment.
